Understanding Stress and Overwhelm
Do you feel as though you are trying to spin too many plates?
Are you finding it hard to motivate yourself, make decisions, or even stay asleep after waking up in the middle of the night? Have you noticed changes in your weight or difficulty sticking to the dietary choices you used to manage with ease? These are all signs that you may be experiencing stress and overwhelm.
In today’s fast-paced world, stress has become an inevitable part of life. Prolonged exposure to stress can lead to overwhelming feelings that affect your mental and physical health. Stress impacts the body in numerous ways, triggering the release of hormones like cortisol, which increases heart rate, blood pressure, and even affects digestion. If left unchecked, it can contribute to chronic health conditions, emotional exhaustion, and reduced quality of life.
How Hypnotherapy Helps with Stress
Stress is not just an emotional reaction; it impacts the brain’s structure and function. Prolonged periods of stress can enlarge the amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for our emotional responses. When this happens, it leads to stronger emotional reactions and an increase in anxiety, making it hard to break free from those stress cycles. At the same time, the brain’s decision-making centre becomes less effective, which is why stress can make it hard to focus, solve problems, or feel in control.
Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool in managing stress and preventing overwhelm. It helps regulate your body’s response to stress, reducing anxiety and teaching your brain to remain calm even in challenging situations. By using relaxation techniques and guided visualisations, we can shift your focus away from stressors and foster a sense of calm and control.
How Can I Help You?
In our sessions, we begin with a discussion of the stress triggers in your life and explore the impact they are having on your mental and physical well-being. We then move into a state of deep relaxation (trance), where your brain is more open to positive suggestions. During this state, we introduce calming imagery and focus on reprogramming your automatic stress responses. You will also be provided with tools for self-hypnosis and relaxation techniques that you can use in everyday life to manage stress as it arises.
The number of sessions is entirely up to you—each person is unique, and we'll tailor the process to fit your needs.
